Dos Ojos Cenote, Yucatan Penisula, Mexico.
I went on an all-expenses paid trip to Mexico my junior year of high school after winning a science competition. Sometimes being a dork pays off (:
Cenotes are sinkholes that come into contact with groundwater. Dos Ojos is thus named because the sinkhole reveals an underground cave system that opens up a neighboring cenote.
I highly recommend going on a cave dive here, or even just snorkeling. If you snorkel to the edge of the cavern wall, you can see down into the caves, highlighted by divers’ flashlights.
